1 Citizenship; General Qualifications for Office. Amend RSA 655:1 to read as follows:
655:1 Citizenship.
To hold any elective office in the state, a person must be a citizen of the United States, either by birth or by naturalization .
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.

1 Citizenship; General Qualifications for Office. Amend RSA 655:1 to read as follows:
655:1 Citizenship.
To hold any elective office in the state, a person must be a citizen of the United States, either by birth or by naturalization and shall declare to the secretary of state, under oath or affirmation, whether there are any states or nations other than New Hampshire and the United States of America which may consider him or her to be a citizen, based on their knowledge or reasonable belief. If the answer is affirmative, such person shall identify such states or nations along with a short statement of explanation including the basis for citizenship, the date such citizenship was acquired if such date is known, and any other facts the person believes may be pertinent for each .
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
