AN ACT prohibiting the extraction of groundwater for the purpose of bottling in plastic bottles.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill prohibits the issuance of new large groundwater withdrawal permits for the commercial sale of bottled or bulk water using any percentage of hydrocarbon-derived plastic as a bottling medium.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

 

AN ACT prohibiting the extraction of groundwater for the purpose of bottling in plastic bottles.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Prohibiting Large Groundwater Extraction for Plastic Water.  Amend RSA 485-C:21 by inserting after paragraph I the following new paragraph:  

I-a.  The department shall not approve any new, large groundwater extractions for the commercial sale of bottled or bulk water using any percentage of hydrocarbon-derived plastic as a bottling medium.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
