1 New Subdivision; Provision of Elective Intravenous Therapy. Amend RSA 329 by inserting after section 53 the following new subdivision:

Provision of Elective Intravenous Therapy

329:54 Definitions. As used in this subdivision, "elective intravenous therapy" means a procedure:

I. To administer fluids, nutrients, medications, or blood directly into a patient's bloodstream through a vein;

II. That is sought by the patient to alleviate symptoms of temporary discomfort or improve temporary wellness; and

III. That is not administered in a physician's office or a health facility licensed under RSA 151.

329:55 Provision of Elective Intravenous Therapy.

Elective intravenous therapy may only be prescribed or ordered by a physician licensed under this chapter, a physician associate licensed under RSA 328-D acting within the scope of their practice, or an advanced practice registered nurse licensed under RSA 326-B acting within the scope of their practice.

329:56 Administration of Elective Intravenous Therapy.

Elective intravenous therapy may only be administered by a physician licensed under this chapter, a physician associate licensed under RSA 328-D acting within the scope of their practice, an advanced practice registered nurse licensed under RSA 326-B acting within the scope of their practice, or a registered nurse licensed under RSA 326-B acting within the scope of their practice.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
