ANALYSIS
This bill adds a definition for abutter to the chapter relative to property taxation and requires municipal officials to send notice to abutters by verified mail where a cutting operation may impact abutters' property.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six
AN ACT relative to the notice to abutters for the intent to cut.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Property Taxes; Definition Added. Amend RSA 72:29 by inserting after paragraph VII the following new paragraph:
VIII. The term "abutter" shall have the same meaning as defined in RSA 672:3.
2 New Paragraph; Forest Conservation and Taxation; Notice of Intent to Cut; Notice to Abutters Required. Amend RSA 79:10 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:
III. A municipal official shall notify abutters by verified mail, as defined by RSA 21:53. Abutters shall be afforded a 30-day comment period prior to sign off by the assessing officials. The cost of abutter notification shall be borne by the applicant.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
