Amendment to HB 1616-FN

 

Amend the bill by replacing section 1 with the following:  

 

1  New Section; Expenditure of Funds to Advertise Vaccines.  Amend RSA 9-G by inserting after section 1 the following new section:  

9-G:2  Advertisement of Vaccines.  

I.  No state agency or political subdivision shall advertise or expend funds to promote vaccines by any form or means.  

II. Education materials regarding vaccines produced by any state agency or political subdivision shall have risks and benefits printed in the same font and size as the recommendations; shall refrain from broad recommendations that all individuals receive vaccination; and shall encourage individuals to consult with their health care provider to determine whether any immunization is necessary or not.

AMENDED ANALYSIS

 

This bill prohibits any state agency or political subdivision from using public funds to advertise or otherwise promote vaccines.  The bill also requires that any educational materials regarding vaccines produced by a state agency or political subdivision provide risks and benefits in the same font size as the recommendations, avoid generalized recommendations for universal vaccination, and encourage individuals to consult their personal health care providers to determine whether immunization is necessary.
