STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

 

A RESOLUTION condemning the assassination of Charlie Kirk and reaffirming the state's commitment to freedom of speech and civil discourse.

 

Whereas, Charlie Kirk, a nationally recognized conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically killed during a public speaking event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025; and

Whereas, Mr. Kirk was exercising his constitutional right to free speech and civic engagement at the time of the attack; and

Whereas, New Hampshire recognizes the importance of protecting all individuals’ rights to express their views peacefully, regardless of political affiliation or ideology; and

Whereas, the assassination of Mr. Kirk represents a grave threat to the principles of civil discourse, democratic engagement, and public safety in our nation; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That New Hampshire condemns in the strongest possible terms the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

That the General Court reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the First Amendment rights of all citizens, including the freedom of speech, assembly, and peaceful protest.

That the state encourages all residents to engage in respectful and open dialogue across political and ideological lines, and to reject violence as a means of resolving differences.

That the clerk of the house of representatives is hereby directed to send copies of this resolution to the family of Charlie Kirk, the leadership of Turning Point USA, and the governors and legislative bodies of the 50 states of the United States of America.
