A RESOLUTION supporting peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Whereas, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) continues to face ongoing conflict, humanitarian crises, and political instability, particularly in its eastern regions; and

Whereas, millions of Congolese civilians have been displaced due to violence perpetrated by armed groups, and countless others suffer from lack of access to basic services, food scarcity, and medical care; and

Whereas, the United States has a longstanding commitment to promoting peace, human rights, and democratic governance around the world; and

Whereas, international cooperation and sustained diplomatic engagement are essential to supporting the Congolese people and fostering long-term stability in the region; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the New Hampshire house of representatives:

I. Reaffirms its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic aspirations of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo;

II. Urges the United States government to increase diplomatic efforts and humanitarian assistance aimed at resolving the conflict and addressing the needs of displaced populations;

III. Encourages coordination with international partners, including the United Nations and African Union, and the Congolese Community of the United States, to support peacebuilding initiatives and accountability for human rights violations; and

IV. Calls for continued monitoring of the situation and regular reporting to Congress on progress toward peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

That signed copies of this resolution be sent by the house clerk to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs - Africa Subcommittee, the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy, the United States Secretary of State, and the President of the United States.
