STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six
AN ACT relative to the joint committee on employee classification.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 State Officers; Positions Eliminated. Amend RSA 94:1-a, I(b) by deleting the following:
FF Department of health and human services director of legal services division for children,
youth and families
GG Department of corrections warden, New Hampshire correctional facility for women
HH Department of corrections warden, Northern New Hampshire corrections facility
HH Department of safety state fire marshal
HH Department of safety director, division of fire standards and training
and emergency medical services
II Department of corrections warden, New Hampshire state prison - men
2 Compensation of Certain State Officers. Amend RSA 94:1-a, I(b) by inserting the following:
EE Department of health and human services deputy director, bureau of facilities
maintenance and office services
GG Department of health and human services director of legal services division for children,
youth and families
GG Insurance department assistant commissioner
HH Department of corrections warden, New Hampshire correctional facility for women
II Department of corrections warden, Northern New Hampshire corrections
facility
II Department of safety state fire marshal
II Department of safety director, division of fire standards and training and emergency medical service
JJ Department of corrections deputy warden, New Hampshire state prison - men
KK Department of corrections warden, New Hampshire state prison - men
3 Salary Adjustment for Recruitment or Retention. Amend RSA 94:3-b, II(b)-(d) to read as follows:
(b) Associate medical examiner, department of justice, $160,000-[$240,000] $300,000
(c) Deputy chief medical examiner, department of justice, $200,000-[$260,000] $320,000
(d) Chief medical examiner, department of justice, $210,000-[$300,000] $350,000
4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026.

METHODOLOGY:
This bill revises salaries for certain unclassified state employees. This bill is a request of the joint committee on employee classification (JCEC). The bill will amend RSA 94:1-a to update it with the position classifications approved by the JCEC. To the extent the position classifications approved by the JCEC results in higher salaries, there will be an increase in state expenditures in the current and future operating budgets. Any increased expenditures in the current biennium will be funded by funds available due to positions eliminated, vacancies within the agency or with funds from the salary adjustment fund. Any increased expenditures in future biennia will be included in the agency operating budget requests.
