METHODOLOGY:

This bill extends the time to petition a court for a new trial in certain cases.  The Judicial Branch states it is not possible to estimate how this change in law would impact the number of filings in the courts.  Because the bill would expand the instances in which a new trial petition could be filed or granted, it is expected that litigation would increase, potentially significantly.
