STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

 

AN ACT identifying certain school district offices as incompatible for purposes of school district elections.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Qualifications for Office; School District Elections.  Amend RSA 671:18 to read as follows:  

671:18 Qualifications.

I.  To become a candidate for any school district office, a person must be a registered voter in the district.  No person holding the office of member of the school board shall at the same time hold the office of district moderator, treasurer, or auditor, or elected school budget committee member.  No person employed on a salaried basis by a school administrative unit or by any school district within a school administrative unit shall be a school board member in any district of the school administrative unit.  Salaried positions shall include, but are not limited to, the following:  teacher, custodian, administrator, secretary, school bus driver (if paid by the district), school lunch worker and teacher's aide.  

II.  No person shall at the same time file a declaration of candidacy for any 2 or more elected offices that are incompatible under paragraph I nor shall they file a declaration of candidacy for an elected office that is incompatible with an office in paragraph I that they currently hold.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
